Welcome to IUCN SSC IdSSG

What is IUCN SSC IdSSG?

The Indonesia Species Specialist Group (IdSSG) is a group of experts consisting of various taxonomic groups and scientific disciplines that supports the government and other stakeholders in a joint effort to reverse the decline of species through data-driven decision-making and policy development.

What We Do?

Our Main Activities

Natinal Red List Assessment

Develop and regularly update the Indonesian National Red List based on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. This will be done regionally in conjunction with Biodiversity/Species Conservation Planning and efforts to strengthen networks and capacity building for local scientists and conservation practitioners.

Capacity Building and Networking

Conduct regular training to strengthen networks, identify research priorities and interventions, and support the development of smaller working groups to respond to specific biodiversity issues or initiatives.

Building Public Support for Biodiversity

Building a public constituency to support pro-biodiversity policies and mainstreaming biodiversity issues across sectors and ministries through various communication channels.

Facilitating National and International Collaboration

Facilitate international collaboration so that Indonesian scientists can contribute maximally to the international agenda to restore biodiversity and develop scientific evidence on the status of global biodiversity.
